Lots of Fun Planting Gardens with the Students of Annapolis High and our Friends at the Lighthouse Shelter Last Saturday
Grow Annapolis had a lot of fun last Saturday planting the Annapolis High School Garden with students and teachers and then heading over to the Lighthouse Shelter with soil for their own garden planting. It was a full day to say the least, but both gardens look great, due to the long hours of countless volunteers. It’s great to see the community coming together and so excited about growing their own healthy food.
The Annapolis High School Garden is in it’s 3rd year and was first built as part of the Bridge Program for incoming 9th Graders. We can’t think of a better way to connect than spending some time in the garden. For the last 2 year Grow Annapolis has supported the AHS Garden by working with students on in the garden, giving tours of the City Dock Community Garden and taking part in lectures on the importance of the Local Food Movement.
The Lighthouse Shelter has just built a new garden to be incorporated with their culinary program. Grow Annapolis is excited to partner with our new friends as they start this new endeavor.
