Thomas is a passionate advocate for access to open space. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida and his Juris Doctor from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a consultant, specializing in international environmental law, with over a decade of experience working in the non-profit sector, and an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis.
Colleen joined Grow Annapolis to share her love of the outdoors with the community, as well as new friends she has met along the way. She received here Bachelor of Arts from Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland and her Master of Education from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She currently works in special education Annapolis High School, and helps run the school’s garden. Colleen lives in Annapolis with her garden, basset hound, Ellie and husband
Dalyn joined Grow Annapolis to help make organic and sustainable choices accessible for those in urban settings who often must choose cheap over healthy and green. A graduate of Douglass College-Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Dalyn has a background in insurance and finance. Currently a stay at home parent, she lives in Cape St. Claire with her husband and three sons.
Joel began a lifelong love affair with growing when his parents let him loose as child in the vegetable garden. A graduate of Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, Joel has a background promoting sustainable buildings, affordable housing, and open space. In addition to being a member of the Board of Directors, Joel is the Executive Director of Grow Annapolis, overseeing the organization’s day-to-day operations.
Barbara Salazar Torreon – is an avid gardener, foodie and supporter of green space. She is also a member of the Slow Food movement and an advocate for military families as a member of the Military Officers Association of America’s (MOAA) Spouse Council. Barbara has a BA in International Relations from Goucher College in Baltimore, MS in Library and Information Science from Catholic University, and a MALS (Art & Culture) from Georgetown University. She works in Washington DC as an Information Research Specialist covering foreign affairs and defense issues. Her dedication to Grow Annapolis can be summed up in a quote from Thomas Jefferson: “Cultivators of the earth are the most valuable citizens. They are the most vigorous, the most independent, the most virtuous, and they are tied to their country and wedded to it’s liberty and interests by the most lasting bands.” (Thomas Jefferson to John Jay, Aug. 23, 1785).
